SCT Day 3: Lewis Lake to Coyote Lake

Up and down we go

Today we got up at about 6.30 am with modest plans to leave at about 8 am. Being refreshed from a day before and after a good breakfast, we’ve packed everything and left at about 8.30 am for Lewis Lake.

We've followed the SCT path for more than 4 hours straight with small breaks here and there and arrived at Elk Lake Hut shortly after noon. Surprisingly, there was no one around and we went for a quick swim right away.

We’ve had the whole hut for ourselves and after a quick lunch, we rested for a while in a shade provided by the building. Thanks to all the volunteers participating in building these beautiful structures for hikers and all the others.

Once we’ve had enough fun, we headed to Coyote Lake Campground. We arrived there after about 3 hours and went for another refreshing swim again. At first, we thought there would be multiple spots to raise our tents, surprisingly there was only a little wooden platform right next to the lake.

The site has been really small, just enough to place two tents on the platform close to each other. We have fought a swarm of bees right after the swim and then finally raised the tents to have a dinner later. After a quick game of Monopoly, we’d go for sleep at about 10 pm.
